NAME OF UNIT: GIVING DIRECTIONS

LEVEL: First Year of ESO.

1. OBJECTIVES:
· To describe the location of a character
· To describe the location of an object in a variety of environments, including simple maps
· To learn and practice vocabulary related to directions.
· To learn how to give verbal directions.
· To learn how to follow directions.
· To read, listen and understand instructions.
· To deduce meaning from context.
· To give oral and written instructions for a route or journey .
· To write a description of their route to school

2. CONTENTS

Communicative skills

- To develop reading activities showing comprehension of the reading.
- To listen to a podcast about directions

- To produce a written text about giving directions..

- To use the acquired vocabulary to improve writing and oral production.
- To show interest in correcting errors.
Grammar


- Use of imperatives.

- Use of structures involve in giving directions:

3. EVALUATION

Students have to draw two maps, one with all the names of streets and buildings and another with missing information. Then, they write a text with instructions to get to different places.
Finally, the give their partners the map with the missing information and read the instructions to them in order to complete the names of the buildings.
